2026 T20 World Cup: Japan win East Asia-Pacific Qualifier B, enter regional final

Japan won the competition comprehensively, winning all their matches in the group, and ending with 12 points from six matches

Japan have emerged champions of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional East Asia-Pacific Qualifier B, 2024, and earned the right to compete against the likes of Nepal, Oman, and Papua New Guinea in the regional final in Malaysia in August, 2025.

The regional final will feature nine teams, including Samoa, Kuwait, and Malaysia besides those mentioned above. Two other teams will qualify through Asia Qualifier B to be held in November in Qatar.

Japan won the competition held in South Korea comprehensively, winning all their matches in the group, and ending with 12 points from six matches (Net Run Rate: 3.527).

Philippines finished in second place with six points (NRR: 1.235), Indonesia in third with six points (NRR: -1.834), and South Korea in fourth with zero points (NRR: - 2.840). Both Philippines and Indonesia won three matches each whereas South Korea returned winless.

Japan skipper Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming ended as the top run-getter with 275 runs from six matches at an average of 68.75. He got three half-centuries with a highest of 85 off 64 balls against Indonesia.

Leg-spinner Sabaorish Ravinchandran of Japan, Philippines pace duo Huzaifa Mohammed and Daniel Smith and Indonesian pacer Ferdinando Banunaek, were the most successful bowlers, ending with nine wickets from six matches.

Samoa had won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional East Asia-Pacific Qualifier A earlier this year.
