England international Sam Curran’s brother Ben Curran endured a nightmarish start to his batting in international cricket as he was dismissed for a six-ball duck in Zimbabwe’s 232-run loss to Afghanistan in the second ODI.

The 28-year-old Curran has played first-class cricket for Northamptonshire but because his father Kevin Curran represented Zimbabwe in international cricket in the past, he got an opportunity to play for the African nation.

He made his debut in the first ODI which abandoned without a result. He scored 15 as Zimbabwe struggled to 44/5.

Curran, the left-handed batsman who also bowls off-spin, has played 46 first-class games.

His brother Sam Curran and Tom Curran have represented England at the Test, ODI and T20I levels.

But because Ben struggled to get into England team, he has decided to play for Zimbabwe.

Ben is two years older to Sam and one year younger to Tom.

Zimbabwe were bowled out for 54 after Afghanistan made 286/6 in 50 overs.

Opener Sediqullah Atal was the top-scorer for the Afghans while fellow opener Abdul Malik scored 84. The two added 191 for the first wicket. Allah Ghazanfar and Naveed Zadran picked three wickets each for Afghanistan to help skittle out Zimbabwe.

Sikandar Raza was the top-scorer for Zimbabwe with 19 not out.
