Myanmar Women beat Kuwait Women to win Singapore Tri-series cricket

Kuwait Women had earlier finished top on the league table with 14 points from eight matches whereas Myanmar Women had got 12 points from nine games. They were in second place

Myanmar Women defeated Kuwait Women by five wickets in the final of the Women's T20I Tri-Series in Singapore, 2024 at the Singapore National Cricket Ground.

Batting first, Kuwait Women were bowled out for 104 in 20 overs. Priyada Murali scored 45 to top-score in the innings while Balasubramani Shanti made 18. Maryyam Ashraf scored 14 not out at the end.

May San took 2/20 to emerge as the most successful bowler.

The target set by the Kuwaiti women was too low and couldn’t stop the Burmese team from scoring an easy win.

Kuwait got an early wicket through Candice Dias. But opener Zon Lin and No. 3 Khin Myat, who is also a wicketkeeper, added 31 for the second wicket to keep their team on track. Zon scored 32 off 24 balls while Khin made 26 off 34 deliveries.

Skipper Theint Soe hit 20 runs as Myanmar chased the target in 18.4 overs.

Amna Tariq and Candice Dias picked 2/22 each.

Singapore Women were the third team in the competition.

Singapore lost all their nine games and couldn’t muster even a single point.

Zon Lin (202 at an average of 40.4), Zeefa Jilani of Kuwait (148 at an average of 21.14), and Priyada Murali (138 at an average of 19.71) were the top-scorers in the tournament.

Mariamma Hyder of Kuwait (nine wickets at an average of 10.44), May San (nine wickets at an average of 12.44), and Theint Soe (eight wickets at an average of 14.62) were the top wickettakers in the tournament.
