Namibia shock Zimbabwe, Kenya and Uganda win

The ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier 2023 witnessed a shocking result as Namibia defeated fancied Zimbabwe by seven wickets thanks to a quickfire 89 not out by Nikolaas Davin

Young Namibian opener Nikolaas Davin hammered 89 not out to help Namibia shock and surprise Zimbabwe by seven wickets in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier 2023.

Zimbabwe had scored 132/8 in 20 overs. In response, Namibia reached the target in 14.4 overs with seven wickets in hand. Davin hit his unbeaten 89 off 45 deliveries with 10 fours and four sixes.

In other matches, Kenya beat Rwanda by 17 runs with Collins Obuya scoring 50 off 47 and Irfan Karim making 63 off 43 in 2003 World Cup semi-finalists’ 154/2 in 20 overs.

In response, Rwanda were restricted to 137/4 in 20 overs.

In the third game of the day, Uganda defeated Tanzania by eight wickets with Riazat Ali Shah scoring 47 not out for the winners.

Left-arm spinner Alpesh Ramjani picked 3/26 to restrict Tanzania to 99/7 in 20 overs.  

The tournament is being played in Windhoek, Namibia.
