Nepal lose to India by 132 runs to suffer their second loss of the ICC Under-19 World Cup Super Sixes stage; they have now exited semi-final race of the competition

Nepal lost to India by 132 runs in a Group 1 Super Sixes game of the ICC Under-19 World Cup in Bloemfontein. The massive loss has now eliminated the Associate nation from the race to the semi-finals.

This was Nepal’s second successive loss in the Super Sixes stage after the defeat to Bangladesh and with two losses carried forward from the pool stage, they have now four losses in four games in the Super Sixes stage.

The India under-19s elected to bat first after winning the toss and made 297/5 in 50 overs with captain Uday Saharan making 100 off 107 balls and Sachin Dhas scoring 116 off 101 balls. India had been reduced to 62/3 but the 215-run partnership between Saharan and Dhas took the score to 277, with India eventually finishing at 297/5.

Right-arm pacer Gulsan Jha, just 17 years old, took 3/56 in 10 overs to emerge as the most successful bowler for the Nepalese team.

In response, Nepal openers, Deepak Bohara (22) and Arjun Kumal (26) began well by putting on a 48-run partnership. But once Bohara was dismissed, the innings lost momentum. Captain Dev Khanal top-scored with 33 and No. 11 Durgesh Gupta hit 29.

India left-arm spinner Saumy Pandey took 4/29.
