Netherlands beat Nepal, England and Scotland split points

Tim Pringle stars for the Dutch with three early wickets as Netherlands make short work of Nepal; Match between England and Scotland abandoned due to rain

Tim Pringle, whose father Chris Pringle represented New Zealand in the 1990s, took 3/20 upfront as Netherlands defeated Nepal by six wickets in Dallas in a Group D game at the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup.

Pringle, a 21-year-old left-arm spinner, picked his wickets from the top-order as Nepal struggled to 106 all out in 19.2 overs.

Medium-pacers Logan van Beek took 3/18 in 3.2 overs, Paul van Meekaran 2/19 and Bas de Leede 2/22 as the Dutch bowlers made full use of the conditions.

In response, Netherlands reached the target in 18.4 overs, losing just four wickets with Max O’Dowd scoring unbeaten 54 off 48 balls.

In another T20 World Cup match, in Group B, Scotland and England shared points after their match was washed out by rain.

Scotland won the toss, with captain Richie Berrington opting to bat in Barbados against an England line-up packed with pace options.

A brief rain shower delayed the start of play by 30 minutes before England's bowlers got the game underway at an overcast Kensington Oval. But a second and heavier rain delay brought the match to a halt with Scotland 51/0 after 6.2 overs, forcing the game to be reduced to ten overs per side.

And a third rain delay, after Scotland had reached 90/0 from their ten overs, meant that the match was called off with no result possible.
