Netherlands look for net bowlers at World Cup 2023

08 Sep, 2023

The Dutch have asked Indian cricket aspirants to apply for the post of net bowlers at their camp in Alur, Bengaluru. They need left and right-arm pacers as well as mystery and left-arm spinners. The expenses will be taken care of by the Board

Netherlands cricket team, which is scheduled to play in the upcoming 50-over Cricket World Cup in October and November, has been caught in a dilemma. It does not have enough net bowlers to carry to India, where the tournament will take place.

On Thursday, the Netherlands Cricket Board posted on social media, X, formerly known as Twitter, a request for net bowlers for the mega tournament that begins in India on October 5 and runs till November 19.

“If you can bowl and want to be a part of the team's ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 preparations, then head over to the link below and upload your video,” the post read.

The post further said that the bowlers are required for nets from September 20-24 at the Alur Stadium in Bengaluru, India, where they will undergo preparatory camp.

“We are looking for left-arm seamer, right-arm seamer, mystery spinner and left-arm spinner,” the post added.

“Travel, stay and meals for the selected players will be sponsored by the Royal Netherlands Cricket Association (KNCB or Koninklijke Nederlandse Cricket Bond).

The list of requirements include:

  • Players older than 18 years and a resident of India
  • Maximum of 1 bowling video with six balls bowled
  • Videos recorded using Ludimos in-app camera
  • Hand-held and edited videos will not be considered
  • Videos must submitted before September 17, 2023
  • Ball trajectory must be clearly visible
  • Looking for pacers who can bowl above 120KMPH
  • Looking for spinners who can bowl above 80 KPMPH

Generally teams carry their own net bowlers but KNCB has a small pool of players and therefore has preferred to use the vast resources and pool of cricket talent that India has to offer.
