The three elected Directors will each serve a two-year term on the ICC Board, representing the ICC's Associate Members

Dubai: Gurumurthy Palani (France), Mubashshir Usmani (United Arab Emirates) and Dr. Rudie van Vuuren (Namibia) were elected as Associate Member Directors of the International Cricket Council (ICC) during the Associate Member Directors' election held on Wednesday at the ICC Annual Conference in Edinburgh.

The three elected Directors will each serve a two-year term on the ICC Board, representing the ICC's Associate Members.

Gurumurthy Palani and Rudie van Vuuren will join the ICC Board for the first time, while Mubashshir Usmani has been re-elected after serving as an Associate Member Director over the past two years.

The election was contested by five candidates, with the incumbent Directors Mubashshir Usmani, Imran Khwaja and Mahinda Vallipuram joined by Gurumurthy Palani and Rudie van Vuuren.

A total of 43 Associate Members were eligible to vote in the election. USA Cricket and Cricket Canada were ineligible to participate as they remain suspended from ICC Membership.

The result will require an election for Gurumurthy Palani’s position on the Chief Executives’ Committee as he is unable to hold both positions.

ICC Chaiman, Jay Shah, said, "I congratulate Gurumurthy Palani, Mubashshir Usmani and Dr Rudie van Vuuren on their election as Associate Member Directors to the ICC Board. Associate Members play a vital role in the continued growth and global expansion of our sport, and I look forward to working closely with them as we build on the strong progress being made across all regions.

“I would also like to express my sincere appreciation to Imran Khwaja and Mahinda Vallipuram for their dedication and service to Associate cricket. Their contribution to the ICC and to the development of the global game over many years has been significant and deeply valued. Together, we remain committed to strengthening opportunities for all Members and ensuring cricket continues to grow in every corner of the world."
