Rwanda Women beat Kenya Women 4-1 in T20I series

Kenya Women won the first T20 International but Rwanda Women came back to win the last four T20 Internationals with Marie Bimenyimana leading from the front

The Rwanda women’s cricket team defeated Kenya women 4-1 in a five-match series that was played in Nairobi recently.

Kenya women won the first T20I by 28 runs with Kenya’s Venasa Ooko top-scoring with 33 before Rwanda pulled back one through a 26-run win in the second T20 International. Pace bowler Belise Murekatete took a three-wicket haul with 3/14.

Rwanda Women then won the third T20I by seven wickets as Marie Bimenyimana scored 38 and took 1/17.

The Rwanda Women won the next match by three wickets, chasing a target of 127 with Henriette Ishimwe holding on with an unbeaten 45 to lead them to victory.

Rwanda Women then defeated Kenya Women by 18 runs in the final T20I on September 14. Skipper Marie Bimenyimana top-scored with 35.

Skipper Marie, who bowls medium pace and bats right-handed, also got to 100 wickets in T20s, more than half of which are in T20 Internationals.

The Rwanda captain was the second highest run-scorer in the series and also ended as the fourth highest wicket-taker. 

This was Rwanda's first-ever series win over Kenya
