The Nepal leg-spinner won't travel to the upcoming T20 World Cup after he was denied visa for USA
Nepal leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane will not be part of the T20 World Cup in USA and the West Indies despite being cleared by his country’s Patan High Court over allegations of rape after the Embassy of USA in Kathmandu refused to grant him visa.
“And the @USEmbassyNepal did it again what they did back in 2019, they denied my Visa for the T20 World Cup happening in USA and West Indies. Unfortunate. I am sorry to all the well-wishers of Nepal Cricket. @USAmbNepal @CricketNep,” Lamichhane tweeted on May 22.
Lamichhane was expected to play crucial role for the Nepal team, since he is the biggest star playing for the south Asian country that is new to international cricket.
The 23-year-old had been denied visa in 2019 also.
“Today I visited @USEmbassyNepal to get the visa of USA for the upcoming @CPL 2019 tournament. Being a National Cricket Player representing my country in the various leagues since 2016 around the world, i got big surprise to see my visa got rejected. @PM_Nepal @USAmbNepal,” he had tweeted back then.
