Surge in demand for tickets for New Zealand-England Test

28 Nov, 2024

With the BLACKCAPS still in contention for a place in the ICC WTC Final in June, following their incredible 3-nill Test series win in India, the Tegel Test series has seen unprecedented demand for tickets, said a statement from New Zealand Cricket

The third day’s play of the first New Zealand-England Test at Christchurch’s 8,400 seat venue, the Hagley Oval, has officially been sold out.

Only limited tickets are available for the remaining days of the first Test of the crucial three-game ICC World Test Championship series, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has confirmed.

“With the BLACKCAPS still in contention for a place in the ICC WTC Final in June, following their incredible 3-nill Test series win in India, the Tegel Test series has seen unprecedented demand for tickets,” said a statement from the NZC.

The first three days of the second Test at the Cello Basin Reserve sold out over a month ago, with the fourth day also heading for a full house.

“Seddon Park, the largest venue with 9,000 seats, saw a ticket spike last week following the news of Northern Districts talisman Tim Southee’s impending retirement from Test cricket, with the Hamilton ground also set to be at capacity for the third and final Test,” added the statement.

New Zealand Cricket is encouraging fans to purchase tickets to avoid disappointment of them not being able to see their team do well and qualify for the World Test Championship Final that will be played in Lord’s, London, next year.
