Nepal lose to Bangladesh by five wickets in an ICC Under-19 World Cup Super Sixes match. Off-spinner Subash Bhandari picks 5/44 to be the standout player for the young Associate nation. Bangladesh reach 170-run target in 25.3 overs

Nepal lost to Bangladesh by five wickets in an ICC Under-19 World Cup Super Sixes match in Bloemfontein on Wednesday (January 31).

Nepal were bowled out for 169 in 49.5 overs with skipper Dev Khanal making 35 and Bishal Bikram scoring 48. The two added 62 for the fourth wicket.

The Associate nation had begun well as opener Arjun Kumal stroked two perfect cover drives to boundary. However, quick wickets reduced the Nepalese team to 29/3.

Khanal produced an audacious overhead ramp shot during his stay but the Bangladeshis came back to pick regular wickets and peg Nepal back. Medium-pacer Rohanat Doullah Borson took 4/19.

In response, Bangladesh coasted to the target in just 25.2 overs losing five wickets. Opener Jishan Alam made 55 off 43 balls while middle-order batsman Ariful Islam played attacking shots on way to 59 off 38 balls.

For Nepal, Subash Bhandari was the pick of the bowlers taking all five wickets and returning with 5/44 in eight overs. Bhandari bowled as many as 25 dot balls in 48 deliveries. After Bangladesh had got off to a flying start, it was Bhandari who picked three wickets to unsettle the Bangladeshis.

However, the experienced Bangladeshis strode to the target with ease.
