UAE under-19 enter Asia Cup semi-finals

UAE under-19 team defeated Japan colts by 107 runs to enter the semi-finals of Asia Cup under-19 tournament underway in Dubai

Host United Arab Emirates (UAE) under-19 team qualified for the semi-finals of the Asia Cup under-19s that is underway in Dubai.

UAE colts defeated Japan under-19s by 107 runs on Wednesday (December 13) to enter the last four stage of the tournament.

Batting first, UAE U-19 scored 320/7 in 50 overs with half-centuries from Dhruv Parashar (65), Maroof Merchant (60), and skipper Aayan Afzal Khan (67).

The Japanese were restricted to 213/4 in 50 overs with skipper Koji Abe getting unbeaten 69 off 68 balls. Charles Hinze made 40.

Left-arm spinner Harshit Seth got 2/19 whereas skipper Aayan, also a left-arm spinner, got 1/40 in 10 overs.

UAE juniors had beaten Sri Lanka under-19s on Monday by two wickets but lost to Bangladesh under-19 by 61 runs on Saturday.

They finished second on the points table behind Bangladesh under-19s, who has six points from three matches.

UAE will now face Pakistan colts, table-toppers in Group A, in the semis while India under-19s and Bangladesh under-19s will clash in another semi-final.
