Virandeep Singh of Malaysia has gone past Muhammad Waseem of UAE to become the highest run-getter in T20 Internationals in Associate cricket history.
The right-handed batter now has 2,551 runs in 88 T20Is as against Waseem’s 2,515 in 69 matches. Virandeep averages 36.44 and has one century and 17 fifties. He is ranked 16th in the list of all-time T20I list of run-getters with a highest of 116 not out. Rohit Sharma is at the top with 4,231 runs while Babar Azam is second with 4,223 runs, Virat Kohli is third with 4,188 runs.
The 25-year-old, who began playing for Malaysia in June, 2019, completed 2,500 T20I career runs in this month only during his knock of 65 against Bahrain.
He has also played 16 List A games (non-international one-dayers).
Virandeep represented the Sharjah Warriorz in the International League T20 tournament. He has 16 Player of the Match (POTM) Awards, which is the joint second most in history of T20 Internationals. He stands second along with Virat Kohli Suryakumar Yadav, who both also have 16 POTM Awards. Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe has 17 POTM Awards.
Virandeep, who bowls left-arm orthodox and has 76 wickets in T20Is, also has won three Player of the Series Awards so far.
