Wasim powers UAE to title win in ACC T20I Premier Cup

Muhammad Wasim scored a 56-ball 100 to help United Arab Emirates beat Oman in the final of the ACC Men's T20I Premier Cup and qualify for the Asia Cup, 2025

Skipper Muhammad Wasim hammered a 56-ball 100 (7x6s, 6x4s) to help United Arab Emirates (UAE) beat Oman by 55 runs in the final of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Men’s T20I Premier Cup, 2024 at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Muscat on Sunday. The title win helped UAE reach the 2025 Asia Cup. 

Batting first UAE made 204/4 in 20 overs. Besides Wasim, Alishan Sharafu hit 34 off 28 balls while Asif Khan provided the late fillip hitting 38 off 16 balls (5x4s, 2x6s). In response, Oman were restricted to 149/9 in 20 overs with only Pratik Athavale making 49 off 30 balls (4x4s, 3x6s).  

Right-arm pace bowler Junaid Siddique took 3/38 for UAE while Muhammad Farooq and Aayan Afzal Khan took two wickets each.

Hong Kong defeated Nepal by four wickets in the third place play-off.

Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Malaysia and Cambodia were the other teams in the tournament played in the Omani capital city.

Interestingly, Oman had finished ahead of UAE in Group B in the league phase beating them by nine wickets in match reduced to 15 overs.
